New Art - Sleeping Fairy on my Hand

September 17, 2012 0 Comments Art by mainili

I finished a new piece, My Precious - because I am holding her in my hand and she is peacefuly sleeping. I like her wings very much, I think this is the best wings I have ever painted. I also like her skin tone, pink and magical. Yes she is naked but I thought I should gave her a little freedom beside holding her in my hand :)

By the way I hate domination, so this is just a pieceful scene like a little butterfly perch on your hand...

Actualy this is my second attemt for this concept. The first one was also cute but I thought I like to see something different and I re-paint it.

The first version is:

I also like this little fairy, she has a very interesting expression like she is dreaming something magical and krunky...

New Art - Yvaine, the fallen star

September 08, 2012 0 Comments Art by mainili

This is my newest art Yvaine. I inspired from Neil Gaiman's book Stardust, she is a fallen star. I saw her while she is gazing to the stars and crying... because she is missing her mom and sisters above the sky.

I used watercolor on paper, size: 9x12. I am very satsified with the result.

I also made a flash animation to simulate the process of sketch to painting...

Lilac Mermaid

August 23, 2012 0 Comments Art by mainili

I recently paint a mini ACEO of lilac mermaid. Her name is lilac, because of her deep eyes... I guess I inspired from Game of Thrones, Daenerys eyes - I am reading the series without breathing.

I made a flash animation of sketch to painting motion. You may like to see...

Element Series

August 06, 2012 0 Comments Art by mainili

Finaly I finished Earth element and the element series have completed.

I used very few objects to indicate the elements. They are female characters and their hair is the charm of the element. I used Greek symbols of the elements on their foreheads.

Air is light blue and the hair is blowing like wind, I also hide a kite between her hair. Her eyes are ice blue...

Fire is lile a flaming hair... I also made her eyes like a burning fire.

Earth, I thought it should be green, the hardest element for me was Earth. I made many sketches and failed paintings. Finaly made her hair like a grass and swirling vines with leaves.

Water, - which is my element (I am cancer) - her hair is like waves of the ocean, I also hide little paper ship between these waves.

There is also a watercolor tutorial for Air Element Here.

Element series, all in one; air, fire, earth and water

What is this ACEO means...

July 02, 2012 0 Comments Art by mainili

Many people asking about what is an ACEO, then I decided to tell about it as much as I can...

ACEO stands for Art Cards, Editions and Originals.

ACEOs are fixed sized art pieces just like baseball cards. They must be 2,5x3,5 inc no matter what kind of art it is... It may be print, original painting, photograph, and sketch or collage... They may be paper, metal, cloth, wood… There is no limit, no rule except the size.

ACEOs are the best way to collect art, because they are economical, they are tiny and cute !

There are many way to display these little gems, you may display in an album as stamp collectors, you may frame them, or you may display with mini easels like your mini art gallery.

I print my ACEOs on Epson Heavy weight matt papers with pigment inks to ensure the life of the prints. I also print certificate of authenticity on the back of each ACEO, this includes, name of the artwork, date, number and the artist sign. I also send my ACEOs with free mini wood-like easel. You may see them here.

There are many artist who selling their art as an ACEO, you may Google it or ETSY it for more information and more ACEO art.
